IT IS time for celebration now as the much awaited music of Vijay's movie Sura will be released on March 29. This is the first time Vijay and Tamannaah are coming together in lead roles. The movie is produced by Sangili Murugan and Sura is Ilayathalapathi Vijay's 50th film. Tamannaah is looking very pretty and charming in her new look in the movie.
Vijay is playing the role of a fisherman in Sura which has music by Tollywood sensation Mani Sharma. Both of them have worked together in Shahjahan , Youth, Pokkiri, Thirupachi and many more popular movies. Most of them were chart-busters, so let us hope Sura repeats the magic again.

Vinnaithandi varuvaya movie
Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’, (VTV) and you know what its like to cross the sky and get into another dimension called love. ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ is a popular lyric from the ‘Vennilave Vennilave’ song from ‘Minsara Kanavu’ directed by Rajeev Menon and all of you know that. So director Goutham Vasudev Menon has rightly acknowledged Rajeev Menon in the first card of the Titles. How humble!
Right from the time, the word ‘action’ was told, the film has been creating the ripples of expectation among director Goutham’s fans. He has surely tried his maximum to live up to the expectations. Captain Goutham and his team- comprising of editor Antony, art director Rajeevan, director of photography Manoj Paramahamsa and music by A R Rahman, just look at that combination, have always given us that feeling of modern cinema.
Well technically, the movie is made with high values- Exceptional music, background score, re-recording, classy camera work, foreign locations, etc. All the technicians involved must receive that imperative appreciation for they have done their work with much finesse.
The first in the list of technicians who have to be appreciated would be, undoubtedly, A R Rahman. Man! Isn’t he a creative genius! His 1st movie after the Oscar phenomenon. His music is one of the main reasons to the much acclaimed hype. The re-recording and the background score are really amazing. If you’ve listened to his songs in your personal stereo, then its only half of the magic you have experienced.
The picturisation of the songs is simply remarkable and they complete the magic. God knows how Goutham gets his ideas and the eye of Manoj Paramahamsa who’s done ‘Eeram’ before, not just his eye that thought of those exotic locations but his ‘lens eye’ as well that caught all those beautiful locales. Watch those videos even with half opened eyes and you’ll realize he hasn’t used a camera but a paint brush with the palette of colours from Mother Nature. The colour tones in the movie have been brought out quite amazingly. The songs especially, ‘Hosana’ and ‘Omanna Penne’ shot at Malta, are worth the watch at the cinemas. Songs get major attention in the movie and the other technician we are going to talk about is Rajeevan and his art-work in the sets of a few songs is fascinating. The D.O.P (director of photography) Manoj has used minimal artificial lighting in the movie, showing his signature style.
We’ll come back to the people behind the camera a little later. Now is the time for the people in front of the camera. Trisha and Silambarasan as the lead pair, and quite a few veterans in the movie like Kitty as Silambarasan’s father and Bob Antony as Trisha’s father. All artists have done well especially Ganesh, also one of the producers, who plays Silambarasan’s friend, has acted well, and his dialogue delivery must be appreciated. Lets talk about- Silambarasan! We’ve seen him as a college student, as a mass character and we’ve seen him dance in the middle of the road, typical Chennai style, but can you imagine Silambarasan in formals, as a simple, regular guy-next door, decent and at his best behaviour? Well, he has proved he is not just the normal run-off-the-mill commercial hero but an actor who will mould himself into any character that a story demands. He’s come out of that commercial image with VTV. All were apprehensive about the fact that Silambarasan working with a classy director like Goutham. But the director has been persistent about Silambarasan and he hasn’t let the director down. Silambarasan has been in front of the camera since he was a kid and such a role as ‘Karthik’ in this movie is really not demanding or impossible to him. He hasn’t acted in this movie, but has been himself. His dialogue delivery appeared to be simple, just like how he would talk to anyone in his real life. He is an ambitious and aspiring film maker in the movie and in real life, he really is.
Opposite Silambarasan is pretty lass Trisha. Trisha as Jessie has portrayed her character brilliantly, she hasn’t over acted or under acted, and she’s done it perfectly. Director of Photography, Manoj has prettified Trisha, and she looks prettier than her previous appearances. Saree clad in most of the movie, Trisha has pulled off a terrific performance. Nalini Sriram’s costumes might start a cult with the ladies from now on.
Now we’re moving in to the ‘story, screenplay and dialogues’, by Goutham. Don’t expect us to be spoilsport and reveal the storyline and the cute screenplay of the movie. The first half till the interval will grab your attention as it has been nicely written and well taken. Some cute scenes between Silambarasan and Trisha look really candid and the camera man has managed to capture that cheeky chemistry between the two. According to the film promos, theatrical trailers, etc ‘VTV’ is a love story ‘with a difference’. There wasn’t anything particularly different to talk about, except for Simbu being younger to Trisha by one year, and the screenplay that won’t tell you till the end if they’ve fall in love and live happily ever after?
Silambarasan wooing Trisha, their second pairing after ‘Alai’, is not at all impractical and you can relate their characters to real life. Their chemistry is enticing and they actually appear a cute pair. Silambarasan’s attitude in the movie is straight forward while Trisha is homely and conservative. The one thing you can’t relate to life or even agree is the hero meeting the heroine at her house, at his will without anyone noticing. Cinema has grown of age, or have people!?
The screenplay in the first half is slow and cute but the screenplay in the second half is even slower.
A faster screenplay might spoil the feel of a romantic movie. Back to technicians, Editor Antony has done a decent job but could have advised his Captain to chop off a few reels. Some of the audience thought the movie got over and they got off their seats when a song was being played! but the movie continued for 10 more minutes after that.
Silambarasan, we all know fights well and dances amazingly. There is just one stunt sequence in the movie and that’s designed by Shiva who’s handled the fight scenes very well and Silambarasan is the demi-god we know, sustains not a single scratch on him. Silambarasan’s dance is admirable. Keeping in mind that most of the songs are not dance numbers, you’ll still see him sway to those tunes convincingly.
Dialogues in the movie and especially Silambarasan’s dialogue delivery is worth mentioning. The dialogues make you giggle at times, and sometimes they make you feel- how one can be so romantic.
Director Goutham has tried something ‘different’ but the audience is perplexed at the end. You wouldn’t know how to react after the climax. Weird! If you’ve been following all his movies and know his style of film making, then you would appreciate his work. There were rumours about two climaxes to the movie. The version the audience saw on the first day is not really lively.
Finally a disclaimer: If and only if, you have all the time in the world, and you like the slow romantic genre, you’ll enjoy this one.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a third-person action adventure video game published by Ubisoft. It was released on November 6, 2003 and is a continuation of the landmark MS-DOS game series Prince of Persia, created by Jordan Mechner in 1989.
The Sands of Time, developed internally at Ubisoft Montreal, successfully captures the mechanics of the original platformer and extends it to the 3D generation. An earlier attempt by The Learning Company to transfer the game to 3D (Prince of Persia 3D) was released in 1999, but failed to meet the standards set by the franchise. The Sands of Time was praised for its visual design and finely tuned game mechanics, and won several awards.

Avatar The Game
December 1, 2009 - James Cameron has delivered some movies of monstrous proportions. Titanic, Aliens and The Terminator have all come to us courtesy of the Canadian filmmaker. This December sees the release of the long-awaited Avatar, a movie about an alien moon called Pandora and the battle over its riches. Cameron's last movie, Titanic, set all sorts of box office records. That puts the expectations for Avatar at near impossible levels and naturally paves the way for a videogame adaptation. It's a game that I had high hopes for and though it does its best to play to the movie's strengths -- featuring a lush jungle world and 3D visuals – Avatar: The Game ultimately suffers from unpolished and thin gameplay elements.Avatar: The Game takes place on the same moon as its movie counterpart but rather than retelling Cameron's tale, it offers a prequel story and an introduction to Pandora's past. The reason for all of the commotion? Pandora is the only known place to harvest unobtanium, a mineral worth whatever it takes to get it. Unfortunately, Pandora has a toxic atmosphere and is the home to some hostile locals, including giant carnivorous plants and the Na'vi, an alien race that stands roughly 10 feet tall. The RDA, a military for hire, has countered with Avatars, a genetic hybrid between humans and Na'vi. And so the war begins in earnest.

If you decide to fight for the RDA, Avatar: The Game plays as a third-person shooter, offering plenty of guns and war machines to take down the flora and fauna. Fight for the Na'vi and you'll instead wield primitive though effective clubs, staffs and knives. Limited ranged combat is in store for the Na'vi fighter as well through a machine gun and a bow and arrows, but the majority of the action is up close and personal. Though both sides have similar special powers to call upon, this setup makes for two drastically different experiences.

There's nothing disastrous here, and the RDA shooter side of things performs well enough to be occasionally enjoyable. The quest design, including both the main and side tasks, is about as generic as they come. Go here, collect this, plant these bombs, or kill this and then return to me. It's mindless, you shoot stuff and it explodes. It works, though it could handle a lot better and the enemy AI isn't up to snuff. During one big boss battle at the end, my foe jumped off of a cliff and then ran across a field and hid in a corner. Searching for him wasn't very fun.

McAfee Total Protection 2009
The Tech Herald recently spent some time testing McAfee's latest and greatest, Total Protection 2009. As many home users know, McAfee is second only to Symantec in the personal computer security field. Yet, the truth is both companies could easily switch places when it comes to install base or user opinion. So how does McAfee’s Total Protection 2009 compare to those others recently tested in The Tech Herald lab?
Total Protection 2009 looks almost exactly like the 2008 version. This is a plus for some users, as the familiar look will help them navigate the menus and settings. One of the new features for 2009 is a technology McAfee calls Artemis.
Artemis is supposed to cut the time it takes to detect a new threat and release a signature down to a few seconds, or in some cases instantly. It does this by checking a suspicious file against a massive online database if there is no local signature. The database is a list of known legit and rogue files, so if the suspicious file matches a signature in the online database, it's flagged.
Installing Total Protection 2009:
During the test, McAfee Total Security 2009 was installed on an Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz (Dual Core), 1024MB RAM, with Windows XP SP3. Patches and other software were kept current on the lab machine.
McAfee Total Protection 2009 was simple to install. Users have the option to install from CD or from the Internet. The CD install requires updates, and was the option used during the test. However, subsequent testing showed that there is little difference in install time between the CD or Internet options. Total Protection 2009 installed much slower than Norton 2009, its top rival. The total install time from start to finish was some 15 minutes.
The install process is wizard based, so there is little room for error. Before completing the component installation, Total Protection 2009 will scan the system for threats. After the scan finishes, which takes just a few minutes, users will then create a McAfee account. One issue with the account creation is the limit on password selection. Special characters, such as the '&' or the '( )' symbols, were blocked.
There was no reboot needed after installing from CD during the test. However, once the update manager was run after installation, updates were downloaded that did require a system restart.
Updating launches in the background, there is no way to monitor the process except to follow the icon in the system tray. The little icon is there to alert users of updates according to the TP2009 menu, yet they'll have no control over what is updating, and are also unable to directly follow the progress or cancel the update once launched.
The update moved through the various modules (Virus Scan, Firewall, etc.) and completed in about three minutes for the first update after install and, on average, two to three minutes every other time.
Using Total Protection 2009:
Navigation and controlling Total Protection is easy to do. Anyone who uses Total Protection 2008 will notice that not much has changed in the new version. The main navigation menu comes with two views: Advanced and Basic. For testing, both were used, but for the typical user the Basic menu will likely do just fine.
The main navigation area (Basic mode) is broken up into three sections: Update, Scan, and a Common Tasks menu. Update and Scan buttons, each self explanatory, make launching an update or scan simple for the typical user, thanks to their prominent location.Under the Common Tasks menu, users will have access to the Home menu for the Common Tasks, the Backup and Restore options for file archiving, Firewall Lockdown, Network management, computer maintenance, support, and their McAfee account.
Starting with the Home section under Common Tasks, users will locate the heart of the security controls. Here they can access four subsections: Computer and Files, Internet and Network, Email and IM, and Parental Controls. As mentioned, this is the heart of the security for Total Protection 2009, and can be left as is for effective protection.
Computer and Files allows users to manage the Local Archive (protect files and folders and restore after accidental loss), Virus Scan, Spyware Scan, SystemGuard (prevents harmful changes), and Script Scanning, which prevents harmful scripts from running on the computer.
Internet and Network manages the Firewall and the Identity Protection services. Email and IM is where users control the IM Virus scanning, Email Virus scanning and anti-Spam filters. Finally there's Parental Controls, which worked great during the test and can be managed and controlled with their own submenu.
The Network Management section under Common Tasks is important to take note of if users have more than one computer in the home. This section will allow users to manage the security and status of McAfee Total Protection 2009 on two other computers, aside from the main system. Users are also allowed three computers per license.
The help offered for the various settings and configurations is extensive. A single link remains static in the upper-right corner of the navigation menu, leading to the help topics. Total Protection 2009 looks almost exactly like the 2008 version. This is a plus for some users, as the familiar look will help them navigate the menus and settings. One of the new features for 2009 is a technology McAfee calls Artemis.
Artemis is supposed to cut the time it takes to detect a new threat and release a signature down to a few seconds, or in some cases instantly. It does this by checking a suspicious file against a massive online database if there is no local signature. The database is a list of known legit and rogue files, so if the suspicious file matches a signature in the online database, it's flagged.
Installing Total Protection 2009:
During the test, McAfee Total Security 2009 was installed on an Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz (Dual Core), 1024MB RAM, with Windows XP SP3. Patches and other software were kept current on the lab machine.
McAfee Total Protection 2009 was simple to install. Users have the option to install from CD or from the Internet. The CD install requires updates, and was the option used during the test. However, subsequent testing showed that there is little difference in install time between the CD or Internet options. Total Protection 2009 installed much slower than Norton 2009, its top rival. The total install time from start to finish was some 15 minutes.
The install process is wizard based, so there is little room for error. Before completing the component installation, Total Protection 2009 will scan the system for threats. After the scan finishes, which takes just a few minutes, users will then create a McAfee account. One issue with the account creation is the limit on password selection. Special characters, such as the '&' or the '( )' symbols, were blocked.
There was no reboot needed after installing from CD during the test. However, once the update manager was run after installation, updates were downloaded that did require a system restart.
Updating launches in the background, there is no way to monitor the process except to follow the icon in the system tray. The little icon is there to alert users of updates according to the TP2009 menu, yet they'll have no control over what is updating, and are also unable to directly follow the progress or cancel the update once launched.
The update moved through the various modules (Virus Scan, Firewall, etc.) and completed in about three minutes for the first update after install and, on average, two to three minutes every other time.
Using Total Protection 2009:
Navigation and controlling Total Protection is easy to do. Anyone who uses Total Protection 2008 will notice that not much has changed in the new version. The main navigation menu comes with two views: Advanced and Basic. For testing, both were used, but for the typical user the Basic menu will likely do just fine.
The main navigation area (Basic mode) is broken up into three sections: Update, Scan, and a Common Tasks menu. Update and Scan buttons, each self explanatory, make launching an update or scan simple for the typical user, thanks to their prominent location.Under the Common Tasks menu, users will have access to the Home menu for the Common Tasks, the Backup and Restore options for file archiving, Firewall Lockdown, Network management, computer maintenance, support, and their McAfee account.
Starting with the Home section under Common Tasks, users will locate the heart of the security controls. Here they can access four subsections: Computer and Files, Internet and Network, Email and IM, and Parental Controls. As mentioned, this is the heart of the security for Total Protection 2009, and can be left as is for effective protection.
Computer and Files allows users to manage the Local Archive (protect files and folders and restore after accidental loss), Virus Scan, Spyware Scan, SystemGuard (prevents harmful changes), and Script Scanning, which prevents harmful scripts from running on the computer.
Internet and Network manages the Firewall and the Identity Protection services. Email and IM is where users control the IM Virus scanning, Email Virus scanning and anti-Spam filters. Finally there's Parental Controls, which worked great during the test and can be managed and controlled with their own submenu.
The Network Management section under Common Tasks is important to take note of if users have more than one computer in the home. This section will allow users to manage the security and status of McAfee Total Protection 2009 on two other computers, aside from the main system. Users are also allowed three computers per license.
The help offered for the various settings and configurations is extensive. A single link remains static in the upper-right corner of the navigation menu, leading to the help topics. The film doesn’t carry a single attribute to be appreciated. The script is tenuous as it cannot hold the attention of audiences while the screenplay is so boring that you feel like walking out of theatres prior to climax.The film is about Siva (Nakul), who strongly objects a thing called ‘Love’ and is dead against the lovers and alienates them at any cost. On the other end, we’ve Pooja (Poorna) in Nagercoil completely opposite in nature to Siva as she strives uniting the lovers. When Siva’s sister Girija falls in love with Pooja’s cousin boy in Chennai, she sets out to ensconce the proposal in an affirmative approach. But then, there are conflicts between the Siva and Pooja, who’re like chalk and cheese.At once, as Pooja reveals about what the real love is, Siva cannot withstand his firm principle and falls in love with her. But when Pooja reciprocates her proposal to him, she is swamped in problems as Annachi’s (Sampath) son in love with Pooja commits suicide after knowing about this affair.Since, Annachi has promised his son that he will not harm Pooja, he starts killing the people around her. All that he wants is to make Pooja lead a widow-like life as he believes that girl was the cause for his son’s death.When Siva comes to know about these problems, things start taking a turn as he challenges Annachi that he’ll marry this girl within 3 days.Nakul has to improve a lot in choosing the script. Santhanam adds to the humor quotients with his rib-tickling comedy tracks, but that too turns to be hackneyed after certain extent. Sampath sleepwalks through his role as a baddie.Dheena’s musical score is unimpressive for both songs and background score. Apart from 'Eppadi Ennul Kadhal Vandhadhu', none of the melodies sound commendable. This film, produced by Vikram Krishna and directed by Thiru, has Vishal (Vikram’s brother) playing the lead role, that of a playboy. So we have three lovely lasses gracing the screen, namely, Neetu Chandra, the very pretty Tanushree Dutta, and Sarah Jane Dias. Sneha does a cameo and the supporting cast includes Prakash Raj, Oorvasi and Santhanam. The title song is supposed to have been choreographed by the famous Bollywood duo Bosco-Caesar and shot in Mumbai. Yuvan Shankar Raja (as the music director) joins hands with Vishal here for the fourth time. Let us see what Yuvan has on offer.Introduction. A nicely put-together number, where the vigorous guitar sounds are tempered with soft string interludes before the charanams. Pleasant unaggressive rhythms and energetic singing make you want to listen to it again. Naughty lyrics from Vaali, of course. The song seems based on the Karaharapriya scale.
4.En Aasai Ethiraliye...
Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Vinaitha
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay
This song, on the Kiravani raga scale, has expressive orchestration. The tension between the soft seductress and the resisting male reflects in the changing rhythms too. With a slight Arabian touch to it, this song lingers on your mind after you listen to it. Could be a hit in spite of the weak vocals of the lady.
5.Oru Punnagai Thane...
Vocals: Ranjith
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay
This song has a very neat rhythm arrangement and Ranjith sings well except for a minor sruti lapse. The clever use of the swaras’ni dha pa ma pa’ on the keys point to the Karaharapriya scale even if both the 1-kattai and 5-kattai srutis are used here. Sensitive lyrics.
Verdict:
Though the first two songs just about pass muster, Yuvan comes into his own in the last three. We may not have many live instruments in this album, but he still manages to hold our attention with his interludes. An overall softening of musical expression would surely be in his best interests.

The film is supposed to be a romantic comedy with the unique touch of Venkat Prabhu and has been shot in Goa, Theni and Langkawi. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes music for this movie and also appears in a song sequence. There are nine songs in the album though not all are likely to find a place on screen.
